Entry for Melinda Kerr's comp.

For me, this photo has always been a favourite. Taken in Palm Beach, Sydney it has isolated the three fundamental elements of our world: the sky, the sea and the land. Since the ancient worlds of our past, these three elements have ruled us, governed our lives, and at the same time nourished and nurtured our ancestors which has in turn allowed us to become the people we are today. But it could also be seen to be a juxtaposition. Nature provided us with the means to grow our cities and we repay her by raping the lands and seas. There is almost no life on the rocks where once they would have been teeming with crustaceans and molluscs. It is a sad indictment of who we have become.
