grief is grief

grief
is grief, is grief is grief
is grief is grief
is grief

I
have grief, have grief have grief
have grief have grief
have grief

I ponder sunsets, attend Buddhist teachings
and prostrate upon my knees
I love my animals way too much
and take Homeopathy

sad stories scream at me from the TV
sad songs bounce off the walls
I drag my weighted body
from sleep through life and home

the tears are shed
when I least expect
kind word, harsh word
white ute

I sit and stare
and try to reflect
on God and life
and love

and I go on
and on
and on
just one foot in front of the other

will joy ever visit
my house again ?
will it knock at my door
and shout ?

or
will there only be
sad songs
on my radio ?

Artist's Description

my thoughts and experiences on grief. grief is always experienced at birthdays, and Christmases, and New Years, and special occasions, along with the joy, as it is glaringly obvious that those that we have loved and lost aren’t there.

this is dedicated for those out there who are experiencing grief right now, while everyone else seems to be smiling. hug, hug, hug, hug, hug
