Artist's Description

Mega Ozone was one of the many strikes that struck the paddock where I was set up. Before the strikes I smelt an electrical smell followed by some loud crackling. At this stage I quickly pushed the shutter, raced away from my tripod and lay flat on the ground. What followed was amazing in quick succession in my field of view around 8 bolts struck the field that I was cowering in. Unfortunately the bolt was so large it wasn’t all captured with the majority of the bolt not in fully view, additional sheet lightning had crawled above me with some evidence captured at the top portion of the photograph. It is not one of the most artistic shots but the size and closeness of the bolt was thrilling and worth showing. The shot was taken with a Nikon f80 with a 30 sec exposure, f11.

This is also located in the lightning and storms section but it is one of what I concider an extreme shot.
