Artist's Description

It was almost dark, on a rainy day, Dec 31, 2016……I looked out my front window and was amazed to see that thousands of Snow and Canadian Geese had landed in the harvested soybean across the street from me…. I quickly got my camera and tripod and tried to get a clear shot out of my picture window, and on my front porch, for it was still raining….I took about 30 shots, and this was the clearest…It was also the LAST!!!…I’m like, “Oh PLEASE let ONE be useful because it is now dark”..The light, what little I had, was now gone….And in the morning, the Geese will be, too…They ARE VERY wild, but will land and feed almost next to people and their buildings and cars..You CAN drive up to almost 5 ft of them on the side of a busy highway, but IF you roll your window down, stop and get OUT, they fly away………..My photo COULD have been better, but from over a hundred feet away, this was the best I could do…….Its funny, because what you see at the TREELINE, is a massive reservoir, its out of city limits, and it IS Duck Season now….The hunters HAVE been hunting there all month, even though houses are nearby…..Their guns wake us ALL at daybreak…..But we welcome their $14 million they put into our local economy every year by hunting and spending money here, in Stuttgart, Ark USA, so, we just roll over and try to go back to sleep…..Its funny, because the Geese seem to KNOW they are SAFE here! The hunters can NOT hunt outside of the reservoir….The THOUSANDS of Geese probably thought, “If you can’t BEAT them, JOIN them! By sitting AMONG us”..LOL….I watched about a dozen pickup trucks with 4 wheelers and Red Neck Racks (Mounted Window Gun Racks) slowly cruise back and forth on E 10 th St Extension, off to the left about 30 yrds…In TOTAL frustration!!! So NEAR, yet so FAR, because NOW, the Geese ARE IN City Limits and protected by Gun Laws!….I thought, “GOOD for YOU, Geese!”….I DO feel a bit sorry for the owners of the farm, by the barn…Because the Geese are NOT quiet! They will make a noise like a Frying Pan, all night, noise that you can hear all the way over HERE!..And by law, they can’t Make Them Move……It was a great, funny and totally unexpected way to end 2016……Taken with a SanyoVPC-E2100 on 21x Zoom………..
