Artist's Description

I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers this pattern from their Baby Boomer childhood……THIS pattern was EVERYWHERE in the 1940s-1960s. On Bowls, fabric, couches, aprons (remember THOSE!) and even on walls (like this 1950s kitchen). I HATED this pattern, as I did a LOT of the popular ones back then. I would also gag at the sight of Aqua and Pink. ..(SOOO 1950s) My Grandma had this Colonial pattern on freaking EVERYTHING!!!! Even her TOWELS were this pattern. The Nation (USA) was stuck in a Colonial Revival mentality. But when I went to this yard sale, and saw THIS wall, and the vintage kitchen (it looked like she never advanced decoratively past 1965!) I some how remembered it fondly! Even taking photos of it. They say we Boomers ‘Buy Our Childhoods Back’, one piece at a time. Well, I went home with a wall plaque with this pattern and the popular Olive/Almond/Cinnamon pattern MY mom liked during the 1970s…..Something ELSE I would have never dreamed would happen…….Somehow, I feel a bit closer to them now…..Even if it DOES Kitsch up my Kitchen…LOL……..Taken with a SanyoVPC-E2100.
