Artist's Description

Recently, at Cooks Lake State Park, (Casscoe, Ark USA) they had a Frontier Days celebration. These guys go all over the state, and actually American, presenting educational programs. They target the Beaver Fur Trade era of Americas History. About 1790-1840. When the trappers, explorers and mountain men were prevalent. They dress in period clothing, have period tools, food, weapons and their camp is period design, and a lot of times PAY for them. Its really a great presentation. This group had about 30 people, from rope makes (I made a ROPE!), flint makers, weavers, and trappers (Like this guy demonstrating the period Flintlock Gun). They camp out on site for the 2-3 day celebration, and here it was late winter, about 30 degrees at night. They stayed in character, even the women. I admired their dedication! I’m afraid I would have been heading for the nearest Holiday Inn…..Taken with a LumixDMC-SZ02.
