Artist's Description

Been thinking of a new art project to begin (actually “to add to my growing list of ideas”) when I was younger , like most people in order to learn to draw I would copy comic books. I still have the stack of 100+ pictures. So with my recent exploring of Canadian comic books from WW2 and their slew of mostly forgotten heroes I decided to re-draw them. I would try to draw them as close to their original costumes. After all if I just update the costume what is the point.
Most of the heroes are of the heroic adventurer sort. Very few super powers. There are some, most famously Nelvana, but most are good fighters who explore the world, have adventures and fight Nazis.
So for my first drawing I picked "Speed " Savage. He has become my favorite not for his stories but just for the convoluted names he has.
The charecter is called Speed Savage on the covers but his actual “hero” name is The White Mask. Speed is a nickname, real name is never revealed as far as I know. He was created by a man namd Ted Steel. Itself a comic book name if there every was one. He is also called The Canadian Ace of Action.
His costume looked the same but was occasionaly different colours. Sometimes tan/brown or black/blue. I prefer the black/blue combination.
His mask is always white around the eyes with a small skull on the front of the cowl.
If I was going to update the character I would make Ted Steel his real name
just call him Speed Savage, get rid of the little skull, make his whole mask a skull and costume would be black/blue.
