Watubelapi, Flores Island, Indonesia. Elder village ladies in the weaving village of Watubelapi on Flores Island. Flores is known for its ikats, which means “to bind.” Resist dyeing threads create patterns before the strands are woven into a garment on simple backstrap looms.
These ladies, along with the rest of the villagers, gave us a warm welcome to their village with song and dance. We felt privileged to be such honored guests.
