LAST REQUEST

She would not see him again.
Last night had seen their last kisses, last holding, smelling, touching and loving of one another. Last ever. His last request.
He was dying. She had left him behind in that room, in that home for the dying, on his own, waiting to do just that – die.
How she was going to cope with the next hours or days, she did not know. Till the inevitable hum of her mobile would bring her the news that it was done.
He had been dying on her since they had met. Yet they had dreamt of a beautiful happy life together for a while. Till death us part.
Now it was down to the last hours and days of waiting, for the time had finally arrived. As she was walking, she felt death’s invisible dancing shadows, echos of hollow laughter, slowly strangling something inside her.
