driving home 2/16/08

driving home
passing the same streetlights every night
listening to the rocksteady that rocks it steady
zoning out
stuck on lost memories and hoping they don’t turn into new ones
i’ve got nothing going, but the fourth gear’s blazing
begging for the shift
it wouldn’t be the first
but would it be the same as the last?
all these things i see
all these things i pass
i know they don’t stay the same every day
but the long road’s coming into view
and i’m wishing i couldn’t see the end
but i know it’s coming soon
but maybe i’ll be surprised by a bend
the signs are changing
45, 35, 25 miles per hour
but i’m still speeding through
my foot relaxes over the gas
i’m not falling in line, but i’m still cruisin through
i take the light and head on home..
again.
