Artist's Description

This artwork features Hardenbergia violacea, the native lilac, also known as happy wanderer or purple coral pea, which is a climbing plant or scrambling shrub that is native to southern and eastern Australia. The stems often form lovely, twining, spiraling shapes, and in winter to spring the plant produces a profusion of purple pea flowers. This species is extremely popular as a drought tolerant garden plant.
Medium: Textile art. Hand stitching including straight stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, and buttonhole stitch, using cotton thread and textured cotton fabric.
