Artist's Description

These handcrafted sculptures in steel plate depict scenes from the area’s colonial history. They can be found on the old Main Road, now known as the Heritage Highway from Hobart to Launceston in Tasmania.

The Hangman is located south of the Stonor turnoff on the Highway. Hanging was a key part of maintaining law and order in the colony of Van Diemen’s Land until the middle of the 1800s.
