To You, Whoever you are.

Simple really, the aspect of life,
Stories retold of family, children and wife.
No longer a hope to last forever,
Just a passing whim, a failed endeavor.
The past is lost on a momentary lapse,
Was I in a dream…yes, perhaps.
You wake to truths of things not told,
You stay in bed waiting for your life to unfold.
Wandering streets alone and ashamed,
Muttering obcenities to the one who’s to blame.
Time moves on as it tends to do,
Leading and curving, paying no attention to you.
Days turn to weeks, those weeks into years,
Relentlessly turning like invisible gears.
Children still love you, that brings a smile,
Still there’s a lonliness all the while.
Some people are meant to share with another,
Some people are meant to be with a lover.
I must admit I hate being alone,
I still dream of a wife and a home.
I wish I had someone to laugh at my rambles,
Someone to see me and take on the gamble.
I may not be the most handsome of men,
But I am a loyal and a passionate friend.
I dream of a hand to hold in the night,
I dream of smiling in an embrace so tight.
Dream of lying with you in grass,
Hoping those sweet moments will last.
The sky open, the wind, a gentle breeze,
Hand in hand time will seem to just freeze.
Finally a person to know me and share,
I turn to you, but you aren’t there.
I smile because I know what I need,
A woman like you, my heart finally freed.

To You, Whoever you are.
