A Lonely Empty Corner...

Once upon a time, so long ago now,
We sat there for hours just laughing.
A table and two chairs,
Love deep in our stares,
In our own little corner.

Against the summer’s heat we spent,
Protected from the world.
And before we begun,
There was the setting sun,
A blink in our little corner.

Time seemed to lengthen in summer,
We thought it would never end.
Then time ran away,
Laughter couldn’t stay
In that, lovely little corner.

Harsh the reality of life and death,
A closing of a heart to illness.
I so often cried,
That day you died,
I thought about our little corner.

I visited our past today of all days,
Scattered petals and nothing else.
No table, no chairs,
No more longing stares,
Just a lonely empty corner.

Good Bye, My Love….
