The Revenant

The corpse yells
While your child sleeps
A cry for revenge against the sheep
To plunge the world into hell,
Don’t worry, he knows it well.

A desperation under the earth
Receding skin on bony claws
Jagged teeth on foaming maw
But you sit, quite, in your hearth
Bathing in absent minded mirth

Slowly slithering on the dirt
A black night hides his form
Out from the place where people mourn
He waits and wants for you to hurt
To bleed inside your cotton shirt

You don’t even know he’s there
You don’t really even care
You’re in for a surprise
The moment that you open your eyes!
