Deceitful Joy

Pain, so much pain it’s extreme,
Tortured muscles reawakening,
Singing as they are released from their bondage,
Burning, burning, so inflamed.

Howling, screaming, lactic building,
Organs protesting with internal rage,
Panting, gasping throat rasping,
Please, please we don’t need a tear!
In the nose, out the mouth,
Push, push, we’re almost there,

From the crown, sweat does emanate,
A liquid galaxy in darkest night,
Some escape to salt the gateways of the heart,
Body covers are now moist and slick,
Not long to go, ends in sight.

What is the purpose of this pain?
Is it necessary for the gain?
This is not the entry of new life,
This is simply a 43 yr olds first exercise.
