BUNDLES OF JOY

We see it all, we cop it all without them even trying
Our mouth is dry and with angry eyes
Sometimes we feel like strangling
Those wonderful things that are our siblings

Of course it’s not all bad news
At first their little and don’t get up to much
But then comes the teething
After that it’s breakages and tantrums
Then test walks and crashes, with the odd bit of bleeding

Outstretched arms don’t need a mouth
They do their own pleading
Big cuddles, a sneaky kiss
The smell, the warmth, the giggles
Are all well worth the effort
So none of us should quibble.
