'Beatskipt' solo exhibition, Marlborough Hotel, Newtown

Hi everyone. I wanted to tell you that I have an exhibition opening next Tuesday 19 May at the Marlborough Hotel in Newtown (Sydney).

It’s part of a new initiative by the hotel called the Marly Art Studio. My paintings will be on show throughout the upper level for three months.

My apologies for the short notice but I’ve been so busy preparing and someone else is handling the PR. For those of you in Sydney who would like to come to the opening, here’s the event page on facebook:

The official opening is 6-9pm and then it’s party time until closing. There’ll be DJs (including myself) and drinks/canapes and bar service.

For everyone else, I’ll post some images in a week or so.

It’s a bit exciting :)

featured writing

i came home exhausted from a hard night’s work to find my piece ‘drinking you’ featured in the blue room. it’s the perfect conclusion to a great day. thanks helen xox

when i don’t write something for a few months i always think well that’s it then, it’s all over, that’s all i have to say.. and then something else comes out and it’s such a relief. i’ll figure it out soon i guess, that it’ll never be over. it’s proof that i’m still awake and alive.

you can read it here if you want.

so tickled :D

Sculpture in the Vineyards, Wollombi Valley 2008

I’ve just been accepted into this exhibition:

I was going to keep it quiet until I actually made the piece (as in on time after a smooth process in which I know exactly what I’m doing at every turn) but I thought since that wasn’t going to happen I may as well tell you now.

Truth is, I got all excited and couldn’t wait! 8-D !!!!

It’s called “eve’s ribs”. I haven’t started it yet, but here’s a concept drawing.

Newtown community art exhibition, Newtown 2007

These two paintings were displayed at the 2007 NCA exhibition inside the beautiful Newtown Mission church in King Street, Newtown.

1,000 oceans

These tears I’ve cried
I’ve cried a thousand oceans
And if it seems I’m floating in the darkness, well
I can’t believe that I would keep
Keep you from flying
So I will cry a thousand more
If that’s what it takes to sail you home.

kelis was right

Yo, this song
This song is for all the women out there
Who’ve been lied to by their men
And I know y’all been lied to over and over again
This is for y’all
Yo, maybe you didn’t break the way you should have broke
But I break
Know what I’m saying
This is how it goes y’all

Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2006

Sculpture by the Sea is Australia’s largest annual outdoor sculpture exhibition.

These creatures, made of bamboo fronds, other natural materials and fibreglass resin, were a collaboration between myself and another artist.

how cool is the dalai lama..

i’m so impressed by this response to the chinese olympics issue i had to share it with you guys.

the DL started this postive protest wave by stating the obvious, that we should hold all our governments to a higher standard, whether they be chinese, tibetan, burmese, whatever..

forgiving enemies. transcending boundaries. the guy’s a fucking g.e.n.i.u.s.
