‘Memorial Flight’

The Lancaster is the centrepiece of the Memorial Flight and seen here flanked by the equally famous Hurricane and Spitfire. The aircraft are preserved and flown by the RAF in recognition of the tremendous service and sacrifice rendered by RAF crews in WW2. The Lancaster was recovered by the RAF in the 1960s and restored to flying status over many years work the aircraft now serves as the mainstay of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight taking part in many air displays throughout the UK. The Lancaster is joined here by a Mk1 Hurricane and Mk1a Spitfire representing the types flown during the Battle of Britain.

Lest We Forget.
