Rewind

Familiar territory
Rewind and freeze
But some rivers never freeze
They keep flowing
And some pebbles never forget
Never change their shape
Even if the water flows backwards

Again I am standing there
In the middle of the desert
Thirsty for ancient waters
That once made this place blossom
And for a moment I think that maybe
My fresh tears will bring new flowers

But I know they won’t
And they flow
And they flow

I am no longer thirsty

Artist's Description

I wrote this in 2003, in another language.
Sometimes memories can be so vivid and insightful that the “past” can almost feel like “prelude”.
And water is the essence of life – it is a river that never stops flowing.
