Back Again

“…Just five more minutes. Go away…” She hits the snooze button as the sickness from last night hits her stomach like a hammer. When she finally peels her eyelids open, the room of her apartment slowly comes into focus and begins to look somewhat familiar, with the usual tardiness shown on the alarm clock. She groans “Shit, not again..!” No time for breakfast. Maybe grab something on the way just before coming in. Cannot be late, musn’t be late. I’ll get ready real quick, water the plants, then run out – I can still catch up.

Leaving just enough time to let the door shut behind her, the irises of course well watered, her empty apartment will stand still until the small hours of the night, when she’ll be scratching around the keyhole to find her way in again. Clara Follington heads out to work.

Artist's Description

So I have been very busy lately working on my first short story. It’s proving to be a more complex task than I had originally anticipated, but I’m getting there.
I finished developing the story and now I’m ‘just’ writing in between the gaps. I’m nearly at the ‘conflict’ point of the story. I need to stop getting distracted and find the time to sit down and write.
Anyway, I thought I’d publish a teaser for now.
This is a very, very rough first draft which I haven’t even edited or gone over once yet!
