Second Earth Hour (Get Ready)

Earth Hour is an event promoted by WWF that asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and other electrical appliances for one hour in March. This is to conserve electricity. The first Earth Hour was held in Sydney, Australia between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on 31 March 2007. The 2007 Earth Hour is estimated to have cut Sydney’s mains electricity consumption by between 2.1% and 10.2% for that hour, with as many as 2.2 million people taking part. A second Earth Hour will be held in Sydney, Melbourne, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Tel Aviv and other cities on 29 March 2008 from 8pm to 9pm.

This is an excellent opportunity for each one of us to make a difference. As my friend, Ushna Sardar, here at Red Bubble cited in her post few days ago. Please do little something each day because everything little thing done adds up.

Earth Hour 2008 will include the following “partner cities”13.

  • Aalborg, Denmark
  • Aarhus, Denmark
  • Adelaide, Australia
  • Atlanta, United States
  • Bangkok, Thailand
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • Canberra, Australia
  • Chicago, United States
  • Christchurch, New Zealand

  • Perth, Australia

  • Phoenix, United States
  • San Francisco, United States

You might say what am I gonna do in this?
Let me tell you, I definitely, am gonna take a part, as Toronto is one of the participating cities.
And it doesn’t matter whether your city is participating or not you can still make a difference.

But how much does and hour weigh?
