Prelude to Part

Mahogany skin against an ember of hope
The biggest flaws flicker when you dote
Too late to question or rebuke the realization
The ebb and flow seem laden to stagnation
The tired and tried seem trivial to few
Melancholy, morose, maniacal, I know you

Clearly it appears without benefits of courtesy
Thoughts so grandiose and lauded over me
Vows long ago, proclaimed us as equal
Tested, professing hope of a sequel
The cresting and soon the crash
Fall of ego and soul dually thrashed

Expulsion from the oasis of sleep
At my side, you still gently weep
