Artist's Description

On 12th June 2012 I went off on a footpath patrol from Coniston Village up to Levers Water and then on to Swirl How .It was one of my duties for the Lake District National Park and as always I was accompanied by my faithful friend Tarn the Patterdale Terrier who has a great love of the views from the higher fells. This was a tad over 2600 feet.We started early,at 7 a.m and it wasn’t until 11.30 that we saw another soul and only then as we were back at Levers Water on the way down..I am sad to report that some ignorant walkers had dumped some banana skins ,sweet wrappers and a pilchard tin(!!!!) by the summit cairn. We bagged them up and took them back to Coniston….
This is Tarn on the summit looking out over Little Langdale and its tarn. The path to the right leads up to the summit of Wetherlam which we had last climbed in february this year (no rubbish)
