Artist's Description

Dow Crag is one of the Coniston Fells in the English Lake District. Viewed from the old packhorse bridge on the Walna Scar road. The Walna Scar road (or track) was a miners route when the fells were extensively mined for slate and copper. It crosses the fells from Coniston Village to Seathwaite in the Duddon Valley. The high point is between Brown Pike (the left hand summit in view) and Walna Scar. It makes a relatively easy walk to Brown Pike (albeit longer than some routes) and from Brown Pike is a lovely walk along the ridge over Buck Pike (centre right) and Dow Crag (above the cliffs to the right)
