Much is made of the fact that men fight wars. But the urge to violence and conflict is a human urge, a fundamental part of the the human spirit, and women are just as capable of starting and sustaining battles as are men.

At its best, this urge keeps us alive, and enables us to survive challenging situations. Few will deny that women are at their fiercest when defending their young.

While men are more likely to lash out physically, women add to their arsenal social tactics such as manipulation, ostracism and emotional blackmail. The end result is the same – the goal, to win at all costs, and to trample the vanquished into oblivion. The battle reflex is an all-or-nothing state, the product of the primordial brain. It recognises no compromise, no shades of grey; it is geared to win, or to die trying.

As a species, we need the fighting spirit to survive. The trick is recognising when to stop fighting, and controlling the primal urge.

She’s scary up close, too…

Figure V4, own mods from Poser. Dual Bryce renders, merged and tidied using The Gimp software.

Printed work appears significantly darker.
