diamond in the rough

Isnt weird when we are flicking through the showcased lives of internet communities and we find so much to disagree with and denounce it all becomes a bit overwhelming and numbing. But I just got a random friend request (not the type of friend you can go to in a crisis) but a friend in some frail form of the word nevertheless. And I went to click on ‘add comment’ cuz as some redubble folk know I have a large mouth and a larger want to express these rants and I ended up clicking on some girl who happened to be a friend of this band. So I am looking at her interests, influences, (stuff she likes) and thinking ‘shit, this is probably the closest person I’ve encountered in my life that mirrors much of me’. The cultural aspects picked up, music collected and soundtracked to our life and a sly sense of humour which I always attempt to do. ‘If I was a chick I’d be her and if she was a guy then I probably wouldnt be writing this but these thoughts just smacked me and it was the most pleasent of a pain I have felt for weeks. To put into frame, what other girls dig Casey Ryback? (ie Steven Seagal in Under Siege) and have the b_ _ _ s (replace balls with equivalent anatomy) to put that on their page to describe themselves to the world. She also reads Bret Easton Ellis and any female who can read and more importantly understand Bret’s work has got to be some type of damned near angel of rationale…oh and she also lives far from the ugly tree (and far from me too). But thats not the point, it is reassuring when it seems like you are constantly at loggerheads with people around you about forms of art and culture that represent you that there is someone out there that is on a similar track. It was almost as a relieved feeling when I discovered Bill Hicks and went ‘fuck yes someone also thinks like this…’
