Artist's Description

The sun rises over Badami town in Karnataka, South India. Badami is a small town that used to be the capital of the Badami Chaulakya Kingdom from 540 to 757 AD.

The town is set at the base of two facing cliffs with a small lake bordering a third side (I’m on one cliff and you can see the lake, the town and the opposite cliff in the pic here). The lake and the two cliffs are home to a number of temples from the Chaulakya era.
