Artist's Description

Back just before the First World War, they were preparing a dam on the Murray River at Yarawonga, Australia. In those days they were cutting trees with axe and two man cross cut saws. Dredging and grading was done using small buckets drawn by horses. When war broke out, they lost the men to do the work and so didn’t complete clearing the trees from the bed of the dam. Today the bones of the trees lie in the water reminding us of former days.
