Artist's Description

This Bridge connects Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and Prigioni Nove (The New Prison).
This bridge was built back in the 17th century by Antonio Conti.
The story go’s about how it got its famous name.
As the prisoners were passing by the windows in the bridge that gave a view of Venice they sighed as they caught their last short view of Venice.
Quite a romantic thought that was inspired in writings in the 19th century.
And so the story has stayed as a corner piece to this historic bridge.
