Artist's Description

This acrylic painting is from Farangis’ ‘The Vessel as a Metaphor’ series. It’s about the ‘inpouring’ and ‘outpouring’ amongst people, in the form of thoughts, knowledge, ideas, identity … and so on.

The vessel is usually attributed a ‘female’ metaphorical value, Farangis instead considers all humans to have, metaphorically speaking, vessel like features in their character.

We find such a broad generalized metaphor of the vessel also in the classical Iranian literature such as in the thought-images Rumi and Khajjam drafted, most famously.

We got a project site about this theme on our site.
