Contests, Giveaways and Fundraising on Illawarra Food Reviews and Illawarra Gluten Free

COMING SOON to Illawarra Food Reviews

At the start of each season I will be offering a basket of locally sourced food products produced or sold in the Illawarra region. You may own a cafe or restaurant and wish to promote a new seasonal menu. Or a food producer or business that stocks locally sourced produce for your deli, bakery or butchery.…

Please contact me if you are an Illawarra business that sells food and you are interested in providing information about new products and samples for Illawarra Food seasonal baskets.

I will be donating some gift baskets filled with local fare to local fundraisers such as the Support Amber appeal. A business card with the details of each supplier and items donated will be included.

Viva La Gong, 2009

A highlight of my year is the Viva La Gong celebrations, Wollongong’s Multicultural festival celebrating the diversity and talents of Wollongong and the greater Illawarra.…

This year I didn’t make it to the street parade but spent the afternoon in MacCabe Park, Wollongong. It was a really bright and sunny day and there was a real party atmosphere with colourful Circus WOW and Circus Monoxide, great music by Lior and other artists.

There were many food tents offering delicious morsels which kept the party atmosphere alive.

The Portugese Kitchen selling portugese chicken burgers, bacon and egg roll, marinated steak roll and chorizo burgers was popular. I settled on a portugese chorizo roll (minus the roll) at $6. It was most definitely spicy and packed a lot of flavour!

T-shirts - would you buy them?

I’ve spent some time today working on T-shirts from my photos and wondering if there is any real interest in T-shirts with photos on them? From what I can tell it is mostly Illustration designs that sell. Am I wrong in that assumption?

What T-shirts have you bought or sold on Redbubble that feature a photo design?

WINDANG'S CAMP QUALITY CONVOY CONTRIBUTOR DAY

I will be taking part in the Camp Quality Convoy Contributor Day as both a photographer taking photos of the event and donating a photography package for the raffle/auction.

WINDANG has always been a huge participant on CONVOY day each year with huge crowds lining the side/s of the road to wave & wish everyone well as truck after truck roll by.

Recently a group of locals deeply affected by the cause came up with the idea to hold our own local contributor day to raise extra funds.

“We always felt like we wanted to continue the fun once the convoy went through each year but a lot of us found it too difficult to make it through the crowds to Albion Park”. One local said.

So NOW WINDANG IS HOLDING IT’S OWN FESTIVITIES :)
The event will be held at Lake Illawarra (Windang) hotel 15th Nov. Immed

On Assignment: Crust Gourmet Pizza opening night in Wollongong

On Thursday October 15th I photographed the Opening Night of the new branch of Crust Pizzas in 53 Crown St Wollongong. I had a great time photographing the many patrons and friends and family of the Crust Pizza Bar owners, business partners and staff.

I was lucky enough to sample some delicious pizza (I am in love with their Mediterranean Lamb Pizza – Drool!) and they have even achieved what sounds impossible – the healthy, heart-friendly pizza that tastes delicious!

Costa Anastasiadis, (right, in above image) founder of Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar, is proud to say that Crust’s six Heart Foundation ‘Tick approved’ pizzas were launched in early 2008 and reported to have up to half the fat and saturated fat of comparable pizzas from other takeaway outlets, between 50-70 percent less sodium, v

Blow out the candle, you're a step closer to the grave... or being scattered over Shellharbour beach, in my case

Yes, I am 38 today and feeling very old. Of course that could be because I was working for 24 hours on a paying photography job photographing the opening of Crust Gourmet Pizzas in Wollongong (next to Oxford Tavern) and then editing the images on a laptop that had a full hard drive and had slowed to a crawl, with internet so slow you’d think it was dial-up. But I digress……

Another year older and I can say without a doubt that I am a little bit wiser this year. Although the price I had to pay for wisdom recently was very steep. I still haven’t received word back on my external hard drive back from the data recovery company but the fact they are holding it ransom for $1800 due to a surge causing electrical damage to the read/write assembly has something to do with that.

I’m also wiser for re

My favourite dining experiences of the Illawarra

Illawarra Food Reviews – Top 5 dining experiences in the Illawarra

When I signed up with “myTaste.com.au”http://www.mytaste.com.au/user.php?action=revie... (a food and restaurant review site) I was asked to list my top 5 dining experiences. I have decided to share them here with some illustration as to why I rate them so highly.

Ocean Beach Hotel, Shellharbour Village

I love this restaurant so much that I hired the venue as my wedding venue in December 1996. I have returned countless times for their seafood platters, oyster medley, steaks, pork belly, mushroom entree and their childrens meals have been very popular with friends and family. The view is of Shellharbour village boat harbour and Little Park and the atmosphere is always one where you can relax and enjoy a
