Artist's Description

This depicts Plato’s concept of the tripartite soul. Plato, in his philosophical teachings, theorized that the human soul could be divided into three constituent parts: the appetites (the “hydra”)[id], the emotions and will (the “lion”)[ego], and the intellect and capacity for reasoning (the “human”) [superego].
