“Wings to fly”
Mornings come on tippy toes one year since you’ve been gone.
Off to sing in another land my heart cry’s out your name.
Off you’ve gone to find success as men cry out your name.
I sit and count the hours until your safe return.
I sit and read all your reviews of how you stunned the crowd.
How everyone in the place cried tears of joy when hearing your sweet voice.
I sit and watch as time drags on and I so proud of you.
And as you sing in far off lands my joy for you is pure.
I sit and watch as evening falls I know your standing up.
I know you’ll soon be practicing for your show tonight.
I lie in bed and look across the room an see you sitting there.
And then my heart skips a beat to know you’ll soon return.
I sit in bed and think of you miles and miles away.
And in my mind I see it all…you up on stage.
I take the time to realize this is what we want.
And thank the lord he gave you wings to fly up high and sing before a queen.
I lie in bed at night an watch where you once sat.
And smile and think of where you are and that brings joy to me.
