Children Know Not Why They Cry

The baby in Babylon
At the river side
She cries
As the stars fall from
Eastern skies
The sun lies in the West
As earthquakes tremble
And fresh mountains rise
In a spiteful reprise
As the dawn draws close
But darkness and shadows
Spit truth to her disguise
Babylon will find her
And draw light from her eyes
No more lows and falls
To break the chaotic beauty
Of yesterday’s highs
No, my child
Today the Earth flies
Spread your love
Share your goodbyes
Tomorrow never comes
But tomorrow, the baby
Tears tearing her face to ash
At the river side
This bittersweet day
The baby dies
