Shiroi Usagi finds it strange to write about himself in the third person.
Artist, Illustrator, designer, coffee drinker, globe-trotter, Lions supporter, sushi eater, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist; well not a billionaire or a playboy but you get the point.
I grew up in Far West New South Wales, Australia. In a small dusty mining town named Broken Hill. Like most kids I escaped my surroundings with comic books and cartoons, a form of escapism I still use now into my adulthood. As far back as I can remember I have always loved drawing, I was never without a pencil in hand!
In high school I was lucky enough to study through the Australia Cartoon School and I got to visit several Animation studios in Sydney.
I moved to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland at the age of 20. I would draw flyers for friend’s bands and designs for clothing companies to make ends meet.
In 2006 I moved to Brisbane, where I worked for various signage companies as a professional graphic designer. All the while I continued to illustrate. I also dabbled in a bit of street art during this period.
I have had my work shown around the world in various sticker and street art exhibitions.
Towards the middle of 2011 I felt like I needed a new challenge, so I sold everything I owned and relocated to Japan. I have always loved Japanese pop culture and this is reflected in my work. In fact Shiroi Usagi translates to white rabbit in Japanese.
After my time in Japan, I have returned back to Australia bursting with creativity.
I am available for commission work so please feel free to contact me!
Follow the white rabbit….
