i saw a place without ugliness

as raindrops trickled on cold panes,
beyond which autumn flies,
scudding clouds, restless birds,
take to the moving skies.

the broken and distressed did sleep,
as lambs comfortable in their new fleece,
as the perfect bud becomes a new leaf
as the sapling becomes the tree.

the rivers are no longer filled with blood,
there are no longer limbs in the street,
i saw that there is a place without ugliness,
that welcomes us, hungrily.

as i watch the day forming,
ancient hedgerows bending,
the bullfinch and the sparrow,
feeding from my hand,
in my dreams.

i saw a place without ugliness
