sequins

on our cheeks,
as the old skin begins to show
lines,
and the passing of time,
the tears
sit like sequins;
how sweetly they reflect the light.

old news comes,
bad news can stay
away,
let the right turn of phrase
make our day.

there would be no future
were it not for dreams,
the idle moments in idle schemes,
so, don’t cry,
not now please,
it is okay.

i wonder how much a butterfly weighs
as it alights,
bright buttons glow in your eyes,

stay safe, be wise,
we have to take our turn, in time.
