soft yellow

last nights old colours, blacks and blues
have given way.
the old fence is dressed in ivy,
this season laden,
small berries, the food of nations.

even the hens have stirred,
as all that was old is swept away,
the roots like old knuckles
break the surface,
like us each searching for the light.

and the sky sits in a soft yellow,
lays sweet rays on the ground below,
for me i am idle, happy to be this way,
though the moss grows over me.
