in place, in time

humbled by the extent of the view,
driven into reverse, by the view,
taking up my new place,
where i belong.

years have grown up around me
in their silent ways,
monuments have crumbled,
lakes have been drained,
so that i am no longer the same.

the shapes of the bones
changed, rearranged,
unnatural and strange
to the child i once was,
are now in place,
and this is my time.

focussed hard on the future,
and the past,
stood like a telegraph pole,
or an ancient radio mast,

linking and linking
onward,
the signals get broken,
but can still be heard.

the shapes of the bones
changed, rearranged
unnatural and strange
to the child i once was,
are now in place
and this is my time.

in place, in time
