it is not a place of darkness

lowering sun, of days shortening,
still coats the land in gold,

with decaying warmth,
ahead of winters encroaching cold.

the afternoon hours,
still bathed in its gradually slide,

give way until none remain,
as we watch, and rest and grow tired.

sleep brings peace to the world,
all those hidden hours,

when consciousness dies,
and we are free from life.

sweet petal,
o! and sweet bee,
sweet, sweet lamb,

come in.

for these are our dreams.

summer glints off the sea,
somewhere distant,
and i walk on steady feet,

welcoming the thoughts
of a soft spring breeze,

this is where we can be,
it is not a place of darkness.

it is not a place of darkness

Artist's Description

conscious that my recent writings have sometimes been sombre or troubled. though this is a part of me, fundamentally i love the brighter things, and accept the darkness is a part of it. i try not to dwell on the bad things, and this is where writing is so important for me. it is like once the feeling become words they are then separate from me, and if hurtful, or painful, then it is reduced once they written down. it is how i make sense of things.
