Artist's Description

when dad was buried, it was a really overcast, windy and quiet cold april afternoon, threatening rain. at some point during the process the guy who helps the priest (sure there is a technical name..sorry) leaned over the grave and the small umbrella had under his robes fell out and landed with a loud ‘clunk’ on the coffin. we kind of looked at one another thinking ‘well, he isnt going to go and get it is he!’ and then we smiled thinking how funny dad would find it, and said’ well at least you’ll have some extra shelter when it rains’.

when we had the headstone made, we added this little umbrella on the back as a reminder.

i hope you will appreciate the sentiment, and this is not of course meant to be demeaning in any way.
