Artist's Description

“It must I think be one of the central tensions in wolves lives – the tug between family and solitude, exploration and security”
(from ‘Wild Eyes’ by E.O’Hanlon).

As with any man of a wild and soulful nature. The spirit hovers between home and hearth, comfort and security, love and loved ones, or the untamed beauty of wilderness and the adventure of journeys alone into uncertainty and the mystery of the unknown. Fear of loss holds them back …. the urge to lose themselves draws them on ….. This ‘soulquesting’ is common to both wolves and men and is echoed in the songs of both ….Perhaps this is Man’s kinship with the Wolf, but also the reason for modern man’s fear and hatred. The recognition in the wolf of man’s own wild and wayward spirit. In the elder and wiser world when men lived closer to nature, this kinship was not feared but acknowledged and respected.
