The Gift Of Giving

“The only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself is to give a part of yourself away.”

The above is a quote from the book “The Ultimate Gift” by Jim Stovall. It struck a chord in my heart immediately, a loud one in fact :D Caused me to reflect if I have lived up to this…have I given a part of myself away given every opportunity to do so? Being a solo worker that I am right now which was unlike before….how can I reach out to more people beyond my loved ones…that is…with the work that I do right now, painting and drawing?

That thought provoked me a great deal and just want to share this with my fellow bubblers…I have some thoughts and inspirations about life…which at times, are hard to contain within :D Before I knew how to pick up the paintbrush which was about 5 years ago, I was into journaling. Now I’m glad my thoughts and ideas about life can be imprinted onto canvases, that was a significant milestone in my life. When people like and buy my paintings, I feel that I have given a part of myself away…there’s something “spiritual” about art, if you know what I mean. I hope that the messages behind the paintings will serve to encourage them in their life’s quests and dreams….and that’s my personal motivation to do art. More so, I am no longer in a high touch people industry which I used to be from…the outlet to express such thoughts here in paintings become more precious to me (I used to have to express myself verbally in my previous job).

The quote may sound abit paradoxical but I think it makes sense…we tend to feel happier and more contented when we learn to give of ourselves away, giving away more doesn’t mean you have lesser for yourself, in fact, you will end up with more than you can hope for. Life works in mysterious ways :D Art is such an intimate part of us….I’m glad I can give something this precious away :D
