Painting

Cat-eyed moon,
elegantly complacent up above.
The light drips softly,
and falls upon the sea.

And I am lost,
between the cracks in the rocks,
where the timid black water
silently bears the moon’s reflection.

Time reverberating
through the holes in the wind.
And there’s no airbag
in my mind.

“I want to be painted in black and white.
I want the light to flicker as all sound fades.
I want to live in freedom defined by war,
as I bounce, from page to page.”

A dark sky sagging,
Like flat notes-
cascading from heaven,
Singing as they fall.

The sea is
lit ablaze with shimmer.
A quiet, luminous quality.
