MY FATHER, MY FRIEND

He was a man of honour .. a man of care
Loving me so….he was always there
Kisses in the evening …. when he came home
Always felt safe ….never alone
Took me on pony rides … once in a while
I loved to look at him … with his big smile
Made me laugh … even when nothing was funny
He lit up my life …. his personality so sunny
Dad would do …. anything for me
When I was sad … held me on his knee
He taught me the difference …. between right and wrong
And at bedtime …sang me a song
When he was on a trip … kisses he would send
He was always..MY FATHER, MY FRIEND
Admired my independence … encouraged it too
Told me don’t let anyone …make a fool of you
Now he is gone … no more can I hear him laugh
When he left …my heart broke in half
