The Clock

It sat on the mantle for many years
Watching their faces and all their fears
It saw little children and grandparents too
Trials and tribulations that made so many blue
It saw weddings and happier days
Life was good in so many ways
It watched as sons came home from war
It saw all this and so much more
It remains on the mantle locked in its place
Although it no longer ticks it has a beautiful face
It will always remain as a fixture here
Although it’s old ..it is quite dear
It has memories of a time gone by
I love this clock .. I cannot lie
