The Rainbow

Her face was lined and weathered by age
The eyes of a vintage sage
Her fingers were bony and long
But in her heart there was a song
She loved the beauty of Mother Earth
And how much life was worth
She knew her days were growing short
With each and every passing thought
She sat and said a short prayer
That God would not be ready to take her There
She looked and saw a beautiful sight
A child flying a red. white and blue kite
In order to peacefully go
She had to see one last Rainbow
And there through an unforgettable haze
Was a Rainbow that she could praise
Hues of blue, yellow, pink and green
Could so clearly be seen
Like a painting in the sky
Now she was prepared to die
