The Lost Night

Her eyes were glazed over from the night before
She looked down at the wooden floor
She wondered why she was not dressed
And thought I’m in an awful mess
She thought I’m either in a motel
Or else I died and went to hell
She asked the Clerk who signed your book
He said here take a look
She didn’t recognize any name
So apparently someone was playing a game
Her car was in the parking lot
Did she drive there or not
She drove home with thoughts going through her head
And all of them were filled with dread
She wondered how did I get there
And do I have anything to fear
Last night she drank too much at the bar
And she didn’t live that far
She thought maybe someone took advantage of me
I must forget this so I can be free
This had been a terrible fright
She couldn’t face The Lost Night
