Dreaming and Dying

His hands were cold
Lying there very old
The room was dank
His eyes were blank
In his sleep
Dreams so deep
Of a lazy night
Making love by candlelight
Feeling warmth through his breast
Knowing his love was the best
Drinking wine, red, not white
Keeping her always in his sight
Slipping in and out of consciousness
Wishing for that once known bliss
Dreaming of all night flights
Delicious meals by candlelight
Kissing her fingertips
Touching her beautiful lips
Then she was gone in the blink of an eye
Why did she have to die
He opened his eyes and saw her face
And he left this world with such grace
His love came to bring him to the other side
And once again he had his bride
